The Author

Avril N. Sun hails from the sunny landscapes and savannas of southern Africa. She writes as much as she travels—which is often. She takes her guitar everywhere she goes and is currently embracing the single life. Her brightest moments are coloured by time spent with family and close friends. Avril might not have any pets, but she has a soft spot for animals, especially small, fluffy pals.

How it began …

The story of Redemption began brewing about four years ago. At the time, I never imagined that a single line would give life to something so real. Initially, I wrote as I always did—for fun. Without any intention of sharing my little escape into fantasy. Inspiration simmered in the background like a good song you put on while you clean, or if you’re like me, while you solve design problems for clients.

Every chance I got to write more, Redemption would whisk me away for hours. I was no stranger to storytelling. As a teenager, I would gather with my friends as we crafted worlds and storylines with our pens during class breaks, indulging our imaginations and answering the call to creativity. With each idea I stitched into my story, Redemption fed upon it and grew. The characters and plot, the magic system and unfolding scenarios, were ingredients plucked from my the diverse gardens of my enjoyments and ponderings. These include: literature, movies, mythology, music, and even video games. My mind foraged my favourite elements and wove them into something thrilling and captivating—something I soon felt an irresistible urge to share with others. The more I did so, the more I realised this tale is not one to be kept or hidden.

A slow-burn narrative simmering with love, magic and adventure. A story steeped with mystery, peppered with comedy and served with a side of action. I must have food on the brain, don’t mind me. But I do hope that you’ll dig in and find Redemption as delectable to read as it was for me to write.
